Give Yourself a Break Today

Have you ever found yourself tired and worn out from the cares of life. I know I have. There have been times when I was so stressed and worried about so many different things that I would literally just go to bed. You may think this is normal to just go to bed. But I am talking about shutting everything off. TV, books, noise, phone, any and everything, early in the day and simply stop thinking; cutting off all thoughts.

Life can get that way sometimes, especially when we start worrying about how we can handle everything that is going on in our life. I was reading a scripture this morning that reminded me of a place I could go to any and every time I get worn out, tired, stressed, or desperate. Hebrews 4:16 says "Let us then fearlessly and confidently and boldly draw near to the throne of grace (The throne of God's unmerited favor to us sinners), that we may receive mercy [for our failures]) and find grace to help in good times for every need [appropriate help and well-timed help, coming just when we need it]".

Joyce Myers makes this reference in her Everyday Life Bible, the rest of God: Rest is freedom from excessive reasoning, struggle, fear, inner turmoil, worry, and frustration, which develop because of our working to do what only God can do.

I am so guilty of trying to things that only god can do or make happen in my life. But, as of late, I have been praying and asking God to help me rely on and trust Him to work out the details and issues in my life. It is sometimes easier said than done. I know that it can only be accomplished by faith. What I usually say after I ask for God's help  is to say "by faith I am walking in the strength and power of God".

I encourage you to give yourself a break today, rest in the throne of God's grace.

Meditation Scripture

Hebrews 4:16 Let us then fearlessly and confidently and boldly draw near to the throne of grace (The throne of God's unmerited favor to us sinners), that we may receive mercy [for our failures]) and find grace to help in good times for every need [appropriate help and well-timed help, coming just when we need it].

Food For Thought

God has a resting place prepared just for you, so when you are overwhelmed with life,  go there with full confidence, knowing that god's grace is right there to welcome and relieve you of your anxieties and fear, to forgive you for any and every fault, and to meet any and every need right on time.
